AMANAH DAYA NUSANTARA
Restoring trust (amanah) and empowering (daya)
within and across communities.
Yayasan Amanah Daya Nusantara (AYANA) is a national foundation that is part of the global Our Common Home (OCH) network.
AYANA advances a distinctive goal to revive environmental stewardship as a sacred Amanah —anchored in Indonesia’s cultural heritage, spiritual values, and community resilience while supporting inclusive and sustainable economic development across the archipelago.
We are not starting a movement.
We are honoring a promise woven
into our culture and our communities.

AYANA reclaims environmentalism as a moral, spiritual, and cultural act. As such, AYANA aims to bridge gaps between:
● Religion and science
● Tradition and innovation
● Old and young
● Urban and rural
● Conservation and development
AYANA reframes environmental responsibility as a sacred amanah that activates Indonesia’s faith, culture, and community strengths—transforming values people already live by into practical and collective stewardship.
This approach ensures that environmental restoration goes hand-in-hand with improved livelihoods, stronger local economies, and resilient communities. AYANA believes the future of Indonesia’s environment rests on restoring trust within and across communities.

our vision
To ignite the power of gotong royong as a sacred duty rooted in culture and community strength.
our mission
To co-create a new ecosystem of collective action (gotong royong) by walking alongside faith-based actors, traditional communities, and business communities-building shared goals, collaborative initiatives, and inclusive platforms that strengthen our collective responsibility and duties.
our values

Shaping Solutions Together
We believe meaningful solutions emerge when communities shape them. Co-creation ensures that our work reflects the lived realities, wisdom, and aspirations of the people we serve—transforming programs from external interventions into initiatives rooted in shared ownership and local insight.

Bridging Sectors, Faiths, and Communities
We build bridges across sectors, institutions, religions, traditions, and generations. Through open dialogue and mutual respect, we align diverse strengths toward common goals—recognizing that no single actor can solve complex environmental and social challenges alone.

Shared Responsibility for the Common Good
We uphold gotong royong as a guiding principle of shared responsibility. By mobilizing communities, partners, and society to act together, we turn individual efforts into collective power, anchoring stewardship of our environment and future in Indonesia’s cultural heritage of unity and mutual care.
our goals

Building an Inclusive Climate Action
We strengthen societal cohesion by transforming the climate debate into a space where everyone feels respected and included. Through accessible learning and practical, non-judgmental guidance, we raise environmental awareness and inspire citizens to take meaningful action grounded in shared responsibility.

Catalyzing Local Action
We catalyze community-driven solutions while shaping the national climate conversation by supporting local projects that deliver real environmental impact, bringing constructive and balanced perspectives.

Driving Continuous Improvement
We build a rigorous monitoring, evaluation, and learning system that strengthens accountability, captures real-world impact, and continuously improves our programs. By generating credible evidence and community insights, We ensure that local solutions scale effectively.
what we do
Our work begins with a conviction that meaningful and sustained action must be rooted in the values, identities, and lived experiences of the communities it serves.
Our programs are guided by our approach of co-creation, collaboration, and collective action.
AYANA grounds its efforts in evidence and value-based segmentation research and reflects the realities of the people. We recognize that caring for our environment is both a shared spiritual responsibility and a cultural inheritance. Through this foundation, we foster genuine collaboration and partnerships which open pathways for communities to lead the changes they envision for their future.

our network
Our Common Home is an international, non-profit organization based in Geneva and was founded to counteract the political polarization and identity politics that increasingly threaten broad support for environmental and climate protection.
Our Common Home supports, mentors, and establishes organizations that reach key target groups not reached by existing climate movements and NGOs. These organizations operate independently and each pursues an approach authentic to their respective country. AYANA is Our Common Home’s independent Indonesian partner. The Our Common Home network is currently active in 16 countries.
